  • 1975 study at the University of Vienna: History and Geography

Work Experience:

  • 1978-1981 Teaching at a secondary school in Vienna
  • 1981-1985 Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics (Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik – ZAMG) in Vienna
  • Since 1986 Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics/ University Vienna: responsible for research topics within the “Historical Earthquake Research”, involved in the evaluation of historical seismicity in Central Europe, the Alpine-Pannonian Region and Lower Austria. Main task was the conversion of old reports into modern parameters for seismic hazard analyses, carrying out several case studies (e.g. earthquakes of Kärnten, Austria 1348 and 1690, Kremnica, 1443, Zilina, 1858 Czech Republic).
  • Since 1999 ZAMG, Department of Geophysics, responsible for projects reassessing the seismicity of Styria / Austria, Lower Austria and Tyrol / Austria for hazard assessment in the frame of national and international projects
  • Working on projects concerning the History of Science
  • Since 2009 Lectureship at the University of Vienna/ Institute of Economic and Social History concerning natural catastrophes
